Even after 27 years, four albums, and a few line-up changes,
Jane’s Addiction is holding on strong.
In fact, Perry Farrell and company’s latest album, The Great Escape Artist, made it to the third spot on Billboard rock chart. So rather than kick the habit in
2012, these ’90s alt-rock gods are kicking off a tour to support the
record.
And lucky for us, they’re making a stop at the intimate Fillmore
Miami Beach on Friday, May 18.
These guys put on one hell of a show. Lead singer Perry Farrel is 52 years old. But he’s still guaranteed to run amok onstage, probably hump a few stage props, and totally sing his ass off on songs like “Jane Says,” “Caught Stealing,” and newer cut “Underground.”
Meanwhile, Dave Navarro’s sexy ass has made it through years
of heroin addiction, still looking hot while dishing out epic guitar riffs in skin-tight leather pants. He’s everything a guitar god should be, dammit.
Jane’s Addiction managed to outlast Nirvana, the late-’90s grunge fallout,
and the failing music industry. And for that much alone, they deserve a salute — and probably a ticket purchase.
Jane’s Addiction. Friday, May 18. Fillmore Miami Beach, 1700 Washington Ave., Miami Beach. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. and tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 9 for $45 via livenation.com. All ages. Call 305-673-7300 or visit fillmoremb.com.
