Fresh from their blowout weekend with Peter, Bjorn and John middle man Bjorn Yttling on the turntables, White Room has decided to perform a quick makeover before next Wednesday’s dubstep spectacular with Skream and Benga.
As anyone who knows dubstep knows, Skream and Benga are pretty much the genre’s founders, and certainly two of those most responsible for the music’s impending ubiquity. The boys from Croydon, South London, both have relatively huge crossover hits to their credit — Skream’s 2005 “Midnight Request Line” and Benga’s 2008 “Night” — and a worldwide fan base. In fact, the lads have spent most of the last year roaming the globe and spreading the message.
Now they come to the MIA in what is reportedly their first South Florida appearance together. Joining them at White Room will be local electro operative Damaged Goods and former Blacksheep honcho Juan Basshead.
So don’t be alarmed if you show up at White Room this weekend and only
get to see the Red Room. The club’s just doing a little sprucing up. By
next Wednesday there will be a whole new finish to the place and that
dirty dubstep will be able to do what it does with a clean sheen.

Miami Avenue Downtown Miami. Admission is $15; $10 advance at Sweat
Records. Doors open at 10 p.m.
