Before Wayne Brady’s dinner-theater shows this weekend, will he pull a drive-by, “choke a bitch,” or snap a street cop’s neck? We hope so. Those are three stunts he executed in just one sketch as a guest on Dave Chappelle’s comedy show, which made violence funny again. The gags countered Brady’s good-guy image and won back the type of fans (college-age, male potheads) he had garnered in his early work with the improv television show Whose Line Is It Anyway? But Brady isn’t just a famous actor, Grammy-nominated singer, former daytime talk-show host, and fast laugh improviser; he’s also a former Miami Hurricane. That means he’s about as local as half the people living here and should fit right in. He’ll dance, sing, and otherwise entertain at 8:30 p.m. this Friday and Saturday at Prelude by Barton G. at the Arsht Center. But we hope he gets drunk and throws in some Miami-style humor — cuss words, bitch slaps, and all.
