With the addition of a live drummer, the New York disco-pop outfit the Golden Filter has, in recent months, grown in ranks. Still, the tunes remain the same. Arpeggiated bass-synth melodies and standard boom-chk-boom-chk beats reign through the band’s live performances, which draw from its lauded debut album, Voluspa.

While bandmate Steven and said new drummer handle all synth and rhythm duties, single-named singer Penelope manages her stage show with lots of erratic flailing and tambourine playing. It’s all handled with a surprising amount of grace and showmanship, and she always remains the center of attention during fan favorites such as “Solid Gold” and “Hide Me.”
