Three decades after they burst onto the scene, the Go-Go’s still have a blast performing together. The key, says lead singer Belinda Carlisle, is the fact that they play only a small number of dates a year, usually a few weeks at a time. “First of all, I’m way too old to tour,” she says. “I’ve been there and done that for the past 30 years. We all have our own lives and we all have our own interests, and I don’t think anybody’s interested in slogging it out on the road for months at a time.”

Still, the quintet enjoys working together, just in small doses. “I think part of the reason is that we do work together in small increments of time,” she notes. “I think if it was any more than that, it might not be so fun.” Catch the latest spurt of their sporadic fun tonight at the Fillmore Miami Beach. Showtime is 8.
