$10,000

In 2000, when Eddie Vedder was in Miami, he got drunk and recorded one of the most legendary jam sessions this city’s ever seen. Sixteen years later, Vedder is older, wiser, and bringing his band, Pearl Jam, to Miami once again. One can only hope he downs a dozen Bud Lights and covers Tom Petty this time around.

Pearl Jam announced its tour today and has four Florida dates in total: Jacksonville, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, and — on April 9, Miami’s American Airlines Arena.

The tour will kick off in Fort Lauderdale at the BB&T Center on April 8 and then move to Miami the next day, slowly snaking its way up the country (and into Canada) before Pearl Jam closes out the tour at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

Pearl Jam will perform at Bonnaroo along the way too.

In October, Pearl Jam celebrated 25 years of existence and more than 60 million albums sold worldwide. The group is considered one of the all-time great American rock bands, and thankfully Pearl Jam has managed to avoid the unfortunate quality slump some acts fall into during the twilight years. Vedder and company still put on a hell of a live show, encompassing a quarter century of everything from Seattle grunge to the introspective songwriting of Vedder’s later years.

In other words, don’t miss this show. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 29, and you can buy them via ticketmaster.com.
