Miami is a city built by immigrants, both from other countries and within America’s own borders. Lots of people move here with previous sports team affiliations intact and no intention on changing them. It’s a problem that’s long plagued local teams. Heck, in Florida, surveys and Facebook data suggest the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves are actually more popular than the Marlins and Rays.

So it kind of makes sense then that New Era has produced a new line of clothing and caps inspired by the city of Miami and yet not featuring any logos of local sports teams. It’s the perfect way for Miamians with non-Miami sports allegiances to show their pride.

Dubbed the “Miami Vibe” collection, the company’s website describes the collection as such: “This is the New Era collection celebrating the city of Miami, our latest prints include the famous palm trees of the region and the color palette has been inspired by the art deco buildings seen on the famous south beach area.”

That line features three separate hat designs for the New York Yankees, another three for the Atlanta Braves, two for the LA Dodgers … and not a single cap that actually features the logo of the Miami Marlins.

Will you step up to support New Times this year?

At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,750 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.

Take a look.
Now the line features other hats and clothing that feature the same prints, but you don’t have pride to show your pride in Miami’s aesthetic and Miami’s sports teams at the same time.

But you can apologize to people for being so fresh.  This is all kind of hilarious considering that New Era is the same company that accidentally plastered the Miami skyline on the official draft hat of the Jacksonville Jaguars. They just keep taking design cues from our city and using them for merchandise for teams that aren’t ours.
