Are you a happy happy worker? You should be, according to CareerBliss.com. The site calculated a lot of data and decided that Miami is the happiest city to work in the entire United States according to Forbes.
Of special note to a Mr. LeBron James: Cleveland, Ohio came in dead last as the unhappiest city to work in America. So it goes.
Unfortunately neither Forbes nor CareerBliss explain the methodology behind this ranking very well, but they say the list was calculated by looking at eight separate factors: “work-life balance, an employee’s relationship with his or her boss and co-workers, general work environment, compensation, opportunities for advancement, company culture, and resources.”
Though weather wasn’t a direct factor, most of the rest of the top ten were either southern cities or in other nice climates. Sacramento, Las Vegas, Orlando, and Washington, D.C. followed Miami to take up the top five.
“We are seeing the beginnings of a start-up culture breathing new life into [Miami],” Heidi Golledge, CEO of CareerBliss, told Forbes. “More startups are venturing outside of Silicon Valley and bringing new opportunities to cities across the nation. Even more encouraging is that more traditional businesses are evolving and adding a positive spin on traditional workplaces.”
Which, alright.
Anyway don’t show this list to your boss lest he use it to remind you of how lucky you are to work in Miami (apparently), but if he does see it be sure to stress how important that “work-life balance” is to you and your co-workers’ overall happiness and productivity.
