Hobby actors, take heed. The Miami Stage Company is holding a casting call for its 2009 theater program. If you strut around calling yourself a “Method actor” and bragging about your high school starring role in Once upon a Mattress, this could be your big break! Any old schmo is welcome to show up and audition at the Alper JCC’s Russell Theater Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. You need to memorize a one-minute monologue and belt out a 32-bar Broadway song, either a ballad or up-tempo. Bring sheet music for the accompanist.

Roles are available in the community theater’s raunchy, kaleidoscopic Sondheim revue, Putting It Together, and the play within a musical, 4 Guys Named José, which — as the title indicates — requires some Spanish speaking. Call 305-274-3597, or visit www.miamistagecompany.com. And break a leg!
Wed., Sept. 17, 5-9 p.m., 2008
