$10,000

Miami’s culinary scene is going to get a lot more attention when the world’s most decorated Michelin-starred (a whopping 28) chef Joel Robuchon opens a restaurant in the Design District circa 2016.

Miami.com first reported the hopeful news last year as a rumor after local food rabble-rouser Chowfather let people in on the gossip via — you guessed it — Twitter.

Earlier this week, however, Women’s Wear Daily confirmed that Robuchon is indeed bringing his talents to the Magic City as part of the Design District’s luxury retail expansion, which will include also include an eatery from Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

Dubbed “chef of the century” by the guide Gault Millau in 1989, Robuchon operates restaurants in Bangkok, Bordeaux, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, London, Macau, Monaco, Paris, Singapore, Taipei, and Tokyo.

No stranger to Miami, Vongerichten, another Michelin-starred toque, already has outposts at the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort and the Miami Beach Edition, although this will be his first outside of a hotel property.

No word yet on what type of fare either chefs will be serving (New Times reached out for confirmation and additional info and we’ve yet to hear back) but we imagine Vongerichten will take a different approach from his J&G Grill’s fine dining and Matador’s elevated interpretation of Latin cuisine in order to make whatever he’s got in the works a trifecta.
