Every year, local officials have to remind citizens not to shoot of their guns into the air on New Year’s Eve at the stroke of midnight. Every year, someone does.
Last year, someone shot up a bullet and it hit a six-year-old Italian boy in the chest as he was eating dinner with his family in the Design District. In years past, people have even been killed. So, you know, this year city leaders are stepping up the campaign. They’ve even enlisted Pitbull.
“One Bullet Kills The Party” is the name of this year’s campaign, masterminded by City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado. The poster features, for some reason rapper Pitbull. Yep, Pitbull just sitting there with his eyebrow cocked while a giant bullet prepares to crash down on a crowd of dancing revelers.
“When you fire and shoot a bullet into the air, that bullet is coming down,” County Commissioner and physics enthusiast Audrey Edmonson told CBS4. “Gravity states that bullet is coming down and it will come down on someone or someone’s property and it can be fatal.”
