It is winter. You are in shorts. Go thank Mother Nature for our good fortune by supporting the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, where the plants aren’t the only things bringing the beauty these days. This weekend the garden is hosting the fourth annual Art Blooms, which celebrates the work of eight emerging South Florida artists, including Matthias Saillard’s fluid, floaty drawings; Maria Caridad Perez’s nature-meets-neon photography; Monique Leyton’s witty “functional anatomy” prints; and John LaHuis’s abstract paintings. Other cutting-edge art making the cut: Gismo’s photography-with-a-message, Brad Kuhl’s photo-painting hybrids, Paul Wagner’s highly textured paintings, and an installation of Jon Davis’s collage photos. Art Blooms is running parallel to its patron, Art Miami, and aims to honor the best of the local up-and-comers.
