A trip to France’s not in the budget this year? Fret not, furry Francophiles. Leave the Smooth Lady Epilator in its case and staycation at the Tower Theater (1508 SW Eighth St., Miami) where the eighth France Cinéma Floride film festival will take over from Friday though Sunday. The festival highlights ten films released in France during 2012, comprising a mix of arthouse, blockbuster and family movies. If there’s one must-see, it’s Philippe Lefebvre’s Une Nuit, starring Roschdy Zem as a vice cop fighting to hang onto his principles and his life among the hidden depravities of Parisian nightlife. The very funny Le Prénom is the kind of farce about a disastrous dinner party that the French crank out like Jason Statham does roundhouse kicks. Writer-director Alexandre Astier stars with Isabelle Adjani in David et Madame Hansen, about the tense, mysterious relationship between an occupational therapist and his glamorous patient.
