Hey, Fidel, you might wanna take a break from the sex maniac routine to take a hard look at the University of Havana’s journalism programs. We’re beginning to get the impression your state publication’s reporters are less than entirely committed to the truth.

Peruse the Juventud Rebelde that ran earlier this week, for starters.

The esteemed voice of Cuba’s Union of Young Communists took up our story last summer about Gustavo Villoldo, the man who buried Che Guevara and recently won a $1 billion civil judgment against Fidel and company.

In the story, we reported on Villoldo’s role planning an October 1971 raid on a small fishing village called Sama. Villoldo’s team occupied the village, killed two men, and wounded two girls in the crossfire.

Juventud interviews one of those girls, Nancy Pavon, who lost her foot in the attack. Here’s where they write about our piece:

In declarations to the weekly magazine Miami New Times, agent Gustavo Villoldo, who participated in the murder of Che, confesses that it was the [CIA] who ordered the attack.

Guys, did you read the story? Villoldo, indeed, worked for the CIA in Bolivia among other assignments. But what he told us is that the Sama operation was entirely planned and funded outside the agency.

It’s the same twisted version of our story that Granma offered last year.
