Yesterday at Culture Kings, Chester French played a free acoustic set for a crowd of cool kids and industry types. Chris O, owner of the high end clothes, sneaker shop, and artist collective said “The label contacted us and set it up.” Ed Agudello, the Digital Account Director South East for Universal Records was there, as were some other suits.
Chester French are DA and Max, who spent years recording an album in the basement of their Harvard dorm hall before they got recognized by the likes of The Neptunes, Diddy, Jermaine Dupri and the other artists you can find on their Clinton Sparks Presents mixtape album Jacques Jams Vol.1 – Endurance, which they are releasing free through their website and features NORE, Kardinal Offishall, Bun B, Cassie, Pusha from The Clipse, Talib Kweli, Mickey Factz, Janelle Monae, Ben Lyons, Clinton Sparks, Jada Kiss, Lady Gaga, Pharrell Williams and Jermaine Dupri who all donated their efforts free of charge for this free album.
Chester French deliver a hip-pop/young adult-contemporary sound with a rock foundation and emphasis on live instrumentation.
Here’s live performace footage of Chester French I caught last year at a Fashion Week Swim event.
