Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
As part of a week-long series of benefit events, Chef Jeffrey Brana will check in as guest chef at chef/owner Joshua Marcus’ Chow Down Grill tomorrow evening, Thursday, April 7, to help raise funds for Common Threads. Brana will create a seven-course tasting menu featuring locally caught shrimp, locally grown tomatoes and vegetables, grass fed beef and triggerfish with seatings at 6 and 8:30 p.m.
Gastropod will also be parked outside from 6 to 10 p.m. and 5 percent of the proceeds will go to charity.
Tickets are $125, and the proceeds are aimed at a specific purpose: Current funding for Common Threads has allowed for four Miami-Dade County schools to be a part of the program (which offers kids from low socio-economic areas access to hands-on cooking classes and nutritional education). Team F.O.U.R. from The Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Miami Group and participating restaurants such as Chow Down Grill are aiming to add a fifth school to the program.
