Looks like the Hurricanes’ brewing bowl game quarterback controversy has come to an end. Unfortunately, it came at the expense of red shirt quarterback Stephen Morris’s ankle. The Miami Herald reports that Morris hurt his left ankle during the second snap of practice this morning. Looks like Jacory Harris gonna start in the Sun Bowl against Notre Dame.

Morris fell on the ground after the injury, and training staff had to help him off the field after attending to the injury. He was later seen on crutches. It’s not immediately clear how devastating the injury was or if it will necessarily prevent Morris from playing on Friday. Though, it doesn’t seem good.

As late as this morning interim head coach Jeff Stoutland was still refusing to say whether Morris is junior Harris would take the start. Reports coming out of practice made Harris seem like the likely starter anyway.

We’ll update this post as more information on Morris’ injury is released.
