American Noodle Bar, the diminutive restaurant nestled inside a MiMo motel at 6730 Biscayne Blvd., closed last week for remodeling.

Chef Stephen Cataldo, who took over after former Wish chef Michael Bloise left in April, has also left the establishment. After hearing of his plans to expand the restaurant’s hours to Sunday and to begin a local art and music series he called “Punk Walk Sundays,” we were surprised by the sudden hiatus.

“I’m no longer with [the restaurant]. I can’t go into any more detail at this time,” Cataldo said via text message to Short Order.

The motel’s management doesn’t know whether American Noodle Bar will reopen, and Cataldo didn’t offer further details about the restaurant’s future. Though American Noodle Bar’s Facebook page has announced upcoming renovations, its website is down. And the phone number seems to be disconnected.
