After gaining widespread popularity in Barcelona, an Asian noodle, ramen, and wok bowl restaurant has just opened its second U.S. location in South Florida.

Udon has opened its second South Florida location at Aventura Mall's Treats Food Hall this week, serving up Japanese-inspired noodle dishes and tapas in a minimalist space adorned with work by Miami graffiti artist Disem. The opening marks the restaurant's second U.S. location, after it opened in 2022 in Wynwood. New Times can confirm its coming to Dadeland Mall next. “With this expansion, we hope to share our love of Asian cuisine that emphasizes flavor and health with even more South Florida locals and visitors,” said Jordi Vidal, CEO and co-founder of Udon.

The menu spans traditional udon and ramen bowls created by culinary director Alberto GĂłmez. Among the ramen options, standouts include the spicy tantanmen with vegan chicken tenders and bok choy, and the curry ramen with marinated pork belly in a miso-curry blend. The "Nabeyaki Udon" comes loaded with marinated chicken, prawn tempura, and soft-boiled egg.

The wok section features short rib beef yakisoba with shiitake mushrooms and pad Thai with rice tagliatelle. Udon also offers its signature "Noodle Rolls," which are sushi-style preparations that swap rice for noodles – including the tuna roll with avocado and cream cheese, and the "Tiger Roll" with panko prawn.

Unlike Udon's full-service Wynwood location with its bar program, the Aventura spot caters to mall crowds with additions of quick-service dishes like "Takoyaki," which are deep-fried octopus balls topped with tonkatsu sauce, as well as rice bowls ranging from tiger shrimp fried rice to vegetarian options like the vegan karee and tofu.

At the new Aventura location, the international restaurant chain took it a step further and partnered with U.S. Foods to source local ingredients and use compostable packaging. And even better – now through Sunday, January 26, the first 50 daily guests who sign up for Udon's loyalty program receive a free "Corral Chicken Yakisoba."

A third South Florida location opens at Dadeland Mall later this year, adding to Udon's 74 restaurants across Spain, Portugal, Andorra, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Ecuador.
