It's official: the Florida Michelin Guide has announced it will expand its selection to the entire state of Florida in 2026, meaning every single restaurant in the Sunshine State — even in the smallest of little beach towns — can now win a major Michelin award next year. This is great news for wonderful restaurants in lesser-known cities.

In other major news, the Florida Michelin Guide has announced the newly awarded restaurants for the 2025 Michelin Guide in Florida. Fort Lauderdale restaurants are finally among those considered for the first time in Michelin's history, and there are history-making wins.

On Thursday, April 17, the Four Seasons Orlando was the site of the official announcement of the newly awarded restaurants included in the fourth annual Florida Michelin Guide, which covers restaurants in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa, Palm Beaches, and St. Pete-Clearwater.

The New One Star Michelin in Miami

Itamae AO (Peruvian/Japanese Cuisine): Chef Nando Chang, who was named one of Food & Wine's Best New Chefs back in September 2023, is now the owner of a Michelin-starred restaurant, Itamae AO, in Midtown Miami. A restaurant within a restaurant, this 10-seat counter by Chang in Midtown looks to set a new standard for Nikkei cuisine in the region. Those familiar with the chef’s past work in the Design District will take heart in how classic Peruvian-Japanese flavors as well as signature dishes have been reworked, reimagined, and refined.

The New One Star Michelin in Fort Lauderdale

Chef's Counter at Maass (Contemporary Cuisine): Fort Lauderdale's first-ever Michelin star restaurant is a beauty to behold. The Chef's Counter enjoys a prime spot inside the Mass dining room at the Four Seasons Fort Lauderdale, and this stylish perch facing the large, open kitchen offers a distinctive dining experience. Chef Ryan Ratino's tasting menu, in the hands of Chef David Brito, is a beautiful tribute to contemporary cooking with French techniques, Japanese ingredients, and a few Florida highlights. Ingredients take center stage in courses like the single-seared diver scallop over a truffle puree. Designed as an upmarket riff on chicken noodle soup, it's finished with a velvety broth.
