Every year, a new restaurant makes waves in the community, not just for its delicious food but also for its overall experience, atmosphere, and execution. And this past year, if there's one spot that has been a sensation since its opening, it's Sunny's in Little River. The popular steakhouse has garnered so much high praise in the past few months, even landing in New Times' 9 Biggest Miami Restaurant Openings of 2024 list, that it's gained national attention, as well.

The restaurant has just been ranked 13th in Food & Wine's Top 15 U.S. Restaurants List of 2025. According to the publication, the accolade was given to the Miami steakhouse for its beautiful outdoor dining area enveloped by an old banyan tree, its extensive martini menu, and, of course, its steaks and pasta. Plus, the editors love its fun and quirky vibe, especially its "hand-drawn illustrations of alligators" that "crawl across the menus," in addition to the dancing elephant sculptures that hold up the ice buckets.

The Low Down on Sunny's — Miami's Most Popular New Steakhouse

Opened in October 2024, the restaurant was founded by the team behind the acclaimed former Jaguar Sun and the celebrated Sunny's Someday Steakhouse residency at Lot 6. It seamlessly blends an elegant indoor dining space with a charming outdoor brick courtyard, giving it a uniquely Florida vibe.

And if you're thinking traditional steakhouse fare, Sunny's is anything but. Here, whether you sit outside under its bistro-lit tree on the patio, take a seat at the beautiful bar, or sit at a booth in the Florida-style dining room facing beautiful French-style doors, you are in for a treat. From the extensive cocktail list that has an entire section dedicated to gin and custom vodka martinis (they're some of the best in Miami) to its scrumptious array of pasta dishes, outstanding steaks, full raw bar, and exciting desserts, Sunny's is a pure delight. Plus, there are plenty of nonalcoholic and low-ABV options, as well.

Featured in Michelin Guide in March 2025

Food & Wine's inclusion isn't Sunny's first national accolade this year. In March, the restaurant was added to the 2025 Florida Michelin Guide, with rumors already swirling of a potential Michelin star.

For Miami locals and visitors alike, Sunny's is what excellent South Florida dining is all about.
