Ten people were injured Saturday in Buena Vista when a Toyota Camry careened onto the sidewalk and plowed through a sidewalk café.

It happened around 4 p.m. at Lemoni Café. None of the injuries were serious, police said. One elderly woman broke her foot.

For months, that stretch of NE Second Avenue has been an accident waiting to happen. The road is bumpy, and the tables are too close to the street. It is time for the city to finish the street repairs -- and outlaw seating that is so clearly dangerous.

Lemoni was named Miami's best inexpensive restaurant in 2013.

Here is the City of Miami news release about the accident:

The City of Miami Police Department is investigating a traffic crash involving one vehicle and seven pedestrians that occurred at 4600 Northeast 2 Avenue.

According to detectives, today at approximately 4:00 P.M., while in the midst of early casual dining, several patrons sat outside La Pizzeria de Lemoni when a 2003 Grey Toyota Camry driven by Belony Alterma, D.O.B. 9/19/43, traveling southbound on Northeast 2 Avenue lost control and struck several patrons sitting at tables alongside the sidewalk.

Several victims were transported to nearby hospitals. The most severely injured were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center via Miami Fire Rescue. The other victims were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital and Jackson Memorial Hospital's Emergency Room. Amongst the injured and transported were two passengers aboard the Toyota Camry.

The driver, Mr. Alterma, remained on the scene.

The investigation continues...
