Miami, we made it. After years of begging the grocery gods (and sitting through bumper-to-bumper traffic to get to Brickell), the highly anticipated Whole Foods Market in Edgewater, which is technically called the Whole Foods Midtown Miami store, finally opened its doors at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 26.

The scene outside on Thursday morning looked more like an event for Art Week than your average supermarket grand opening, complete with a live DJ yelling to those lined up early, "Make sure you guys are throwing your hands in the air and dancing your way in!" and booths handing out free coffee. Because Miami. By the afternoon, shoppers got treated to free gelato pops from Gelatys, and Whole Foods marked the opening by donating food to the Caring Place and supporting Urban Oasis Project and Lotus House.

Check out the hilarious video of the entrance to yesterday's opening by Dani Bergman on TikTok below.

The line snaked around the entrance at 2910 Biscayne Blvd. for hours as eager Miamians flooded in for their first glimpse of the brand-new, 53,400-square-foot grocery paradise.

Shoppers were met with people clapping, free cortaditos from Wells Coffee, breakfast treats from Zak the Baker, and "Secret Saver" cards with discounts up to $100 — if they made it in as one of the first 300 through the door. (Yes, there were tote bags. Yes, they were really cute.)

More Like a Local Farmers Market Than Other Whole Foods

But this isn’t just any Whole Foods. It's a full-blown love letter to Florida flavors and Miami flair. Set at the base of the sleek new Nema Miami development, the space is tropical, vibrant, and massive — think curated food hall meets design district showroom. There's a gleaming Cuban-style coffee bar, a new dine-in eating area, and a jaw-dropping cheese department called the Fermagerie (we’re obsessed). Shelves are fully stocked, everything feels fresh-from-the-box, and yes — parking is a breeze, thanks to two hours of complimentary garage parking.

Even more special about this location is that the store boasts more than 130 Florida-based vendors, with over 500 local products woven throughout. You'll find Zak the Baker pastries, Bunnie Cakes, fresh lychee from EcoRipe Tropicals, kombucha from Radiate, beers from Tripping Animals and Prison Pals, and sushi by Sushi Maki. Even the snapper and shrimp at the seafood counter are locally sourced.

Plus, the cheese section is a cheese board-lover's dream.

Fromagerie, Sushi Bar, Smoothie Bar, and a Hot Bar

Upstairs shoppers can have lunch in a sprawling new lounge with plenty of seating. This Whole Foods also includes all the usual departments and stations, including a hot bar, smoothie bar, sushi bar, and fromagerie.

While there isn't anything mind-blowing about this Whole Foods, it's gorgeously stocked, the aisles are squeaky clean, and it's going to be the go-to shopping destination for everyone in the Midtown and Edgewater neighborhoods (besides Publix and Trader Joe's nearby).

The doors are now open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and yes, Prime members can scan their palms with Amazon One like it’s 2050.
