After years of residents in Midtown, Miami Design District, and Edgewater were forced to drive in bumper-to-bumper traffic to get to the downtown Whole Foods near Brickell, the grocery store has answered their prayers. The Whole Foods in Edgewater finally has an opening date.

Whole Foods Market
's new location in Edgewater will open on Thursday, June 26, at 2910 Biscayne Blvd. The sprawling 53,400-square-foot space, which honestly reads more like a curated food hall than a traditional grocery store, promises a deep dive into Florida flavor. There's a Cuban-style coffee bar pouring cortaditos and café con leche, a bakery stocked with pastries and desserts from Zak the Baker, Bunnie Cakes, and Simply Delicious Bakers, and a prepared foods section slinging fresh pizza, sushi by Sushi Maki, and made-to-order sandwiches.

More Than 130 Florida-Based Vendors, Markets, and Brands

Set inside the base of the new Nema Miami development, the store was designed to reflect the energy of the neighborhood. It features tropical plants, local bird motifs, and bold, Miami-inspired colors throughout. But beyond the visuals, the store is putting a strong focus on local sourcing: more than 130 Florida-based vendors are represented across every department, selling over 500 local products.

That emphasis on local starts at the seafood counter, where shoppers can pick up red snapper and grouper from Greg Abrams Seafood, Gulf and Key West pink shrimp from Cox's Seafood Co., and spiny lobster tails from Keys Fisheries. In the produce aisle, tropical fruits like lychee and passion fruit come in from EcoRipe Tropicals, while orchids from Silver Vase and watermelons from Jim Rash, Inc. round out the Florida-grown lineup.

In the cheese and specialty departments, you'll find hand-wrapped mozzarella from Mozzarita, dark chocolate sea salt bars from 5150 Chocolate Co., and rosemary flatbread from Jennifer's Homemade. Kombucha comes courtesy of Radiate, juice from 305 Squeezed, and protein bars from Fropro. And if you're browsing the beverage aisle, expect to see local names like Tripping Animals, Prison Pals, and Green Bench Brewing among the 240 craft beer and ready-to-drink cocktail offerings and over 700 wines.

Opening Day Perks

Opening-day shoppers can expect a few perks: the first 300 customers will receive a limited-edition Whole Foods tote and a "Secret Saver" card with discounts up to $100. Complimentary coffee from Wells Coffee and breakfast treats from Zak the Baker will be served in the morning, followed by free gelato pops from Gelatys in the afternoon.

To mark the opening, Whole Foods is also donating food to The Caring Place, a local nonprofit focused on food rescue, as part of its Nourishing Our Neighborhoods program. The store will also support Urban Oasis Project and Lotus House, two other Miami-based organizations addressing food access and community wellness.

The store will be open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and all products must meet Whole Foods’ strict ingredient standards, which ban hydrogenated fats, high-fructose corn syrup, and hundreds of synthetic additives. Prime members will receive exclusive weekly deals and can check out using Amazon One, the retailer’s palm-based payment system.
