First Florida Eataly Is Now Open: 6 Things to Expect

After years of rumors and anticipation, Italian food giant Eataly finally opened its doors at Aventura Mall on Thursday, June 12, at 3 p.m. with its Italian food hall, grab-and-go stations, and massive market filled with wine and cheese that makes any foodie swoon.

The 30,000-square-foot space marks the brand's first Florida location and 13th North American outpost. Here's what awaits when this massive Italian marketplace makes its South Florida debut.

1. Two Sit-Down Restaurants Anchor the Space

Eataly features two full-service restaurants. The first is La Pizza & La Pasta, which occupies one side of the space, boasting nearly 300 seats and focusing on Neapolitan-style pizza and pasta from Italian regions, from north to south. Il Pastaio takes up the other side with 90 seats in the heart of the market. The name means "pasta maker," and that's exactly what diners will see: pasta makers crafting shapes daily at a long counter where diners can watch the process. Both restaurants accept reservations through OpenTable but also keep some tables available for walk-ins.

2. Five Counters Handle Quick Meals

When you don't want a full restaurant dining experience, five grab-and-go counters serve Italian staples. Lavazza handles coffee, La Pasticceria specializes in pastries and baked goods, Il Gelato serves gelato and sorbetto, Pizza alla Pala prepares Roman-style pizza, and the Panini counter focuses on focaccia and sandwiches. You can eat at nearby tables or head to the mall's seating area.

3. The Grocery Section Is Massive

The market section definitely delivers, stocking Italian imports and housemade products across multiple aisles. You'll find pantry basics like olive oils and pasta alongside specialty items like pistachio spread, Calabrian hot peppers, and pesto potato chips. Fresh produce, meats, salumi, cheeses, and prepared foods like tiramisu and salads round out the selection. And like any good Italian spot, they make fresh pasta on-site daily for take-home cooking.

4. The Wine Store Covers All 20 Italian Regions

The wine section features bottles from every Italian region, plus a temperature-controlled Riserva room for high-end and rare bottles you allegedly won't find elsewhere in South Florida. The selection ranges from everyday drinking wine to bottles for special occasions.

5. There's a Cooking School for Hands-On Learning

Eataly features a dedicated cooking school that offers regular educational classes, aligning with the brand's "eat, shop, and learn" philosophy. The school offers hands-on workshops where you can learn Italian cooking techniques from experts.

6. They're Throwing a Ten-Day Opening Party

Starting Friday, June 13, Eataly will host ten days of free events open to the public. The programming includes wine tastings, producer demonstrations, workshops, and cooking classes. This celebration marks the start of the cooking school's regular programming schedule.

Eataly Aventura is open on the third floor near Nordstrom. A West Palm Beach location is planned for the fall.
