Jeffrey Brown, a 19-year-old red shirt freshman on the University of Miami Hurricanes football team, has been charged with raping a woman on the school's Coral Gables campus. Brown has been suspended from the team indefinitely.
The victim told police that she returned to her dorm shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday morning feeling ill and intoxicated. Brown allegedly entered her room pretending to be concerned, but the victim said he proceeded to rape her.
The victim told Brown to stop, but because of her state and Brown's size, she was not able to fight him off. Brown is listed at six-foot-three and 295 pounds.
Brown, originally from Evanston, Illinois, turned himself into Coral Gables Police Wednesday afternoon and was charged with sexual battery.
"The University of Miami has become aware of the serious charges made against a student athlete, and he has been suspended indefinitely from the football program," a University of Miami statement reads.

Brown's attorney released a statement maintaining Brown did not break any laws or school rules that night.
Brown is the second UM player to be arrested under the watch of new coach Al Golden. Raymond Buchanan was arrested after a drunken and violent confrontation with police in Coconut Grove but has since been reinstated on the team.
Only one player was arrested under previous coach Randy Shannon, and that was for punching the side mirror of a car.
