Less than a month after seasoned journalists from ABC, CNN, FOX, the New York Times, and Washington Post walked out of the Pentagon in protest of controversial new reporting rules, the nation’s top military institution gave a press pass to the prolifically banned right-wing agitator Laura Loomer. She made the announcement on X, which previously banned the prolific Islamophobe before fellow conservative darling Elon Musk bought it.
Yes, the same shrewd newshound who called longtime Miami politician Joe Carollo “woke” is now permitted intimate access to cover stories about the very federal government she has accused of planning 9/11.
Can we expect more tweets like this from our new South Florida Pentagon reporter?
Credentialed reporters from well-trusted media sources walked out of the Pentagon in protest in mid-October, pushing back against Secretary of War Pete Hegseth’s mandate requiring reporters to get government approval before reporting information on military topics. Reporters who turned in their press passes included ABC’s Anne Flaherty, who has covered Washington, D.C. for the Associated Press and ABC since 2009, and Martha Raddatz, ABC News’ chief global affairs correspondent, who has covered national politics for the outlet since 2007.
Loomer, a Barry University broadcast journalism alumna, joins other esteemed reporters, such as Mike Lindell of My Pillow fame, and outlets like Frontline, which is run by Turning Point USA, to cover topics emerging from the newly rebranded Department of War.
For those who have managed to escape her looming presence on social media, Loomer is perhaps best known for her love of President Donald Trump and just about any conspiracy theory painting Muslim people in a negative light. Her social media accounts are filled with posts baselessly linking Muslim and Islamic people to acts of terrorism.
The chronically online keyboard duelist appears to hate Muslims just about as much as she loves Trump; it helps when he publicly spouts Islamophobia.
Loomer has been a right-wing standard-bearer for years and a political provocateur since her college days, so perhaps it’s only fitting that her latest platform comes with a Pentagon pass.
