Pretty in the City - Go Forth, Be Beautiful

Beautiful women of Miami, we’ve got a city jam packed with salons to visit and stores to shop at. And fingers crossed; there will be no weather snafus to tie you to the living room sofa this weekend. So go out and get your pretty on!

First stop, Kiehl’s (832 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach). The product line that’s been healing and beautifying since 1851 is hosting "Natural Recipes for Healthy Hair" events, every Thursday, through September 25. Stop by the Miami Beach store to work one on one with a Kiehl’s expert, who will consult with you to show you the type of shampoo, conditioner or treatment is best for your follicular needs. Kiehl’s just recently debuted two new hair care products, Ultimate Thickening Shampoo and Strong-Hold Styling Gel. This curly haired chica needs neither of those – OMG, my fro on thickening shampoo? It would be outta control! But that Olive Oil Repairaitive Hair Pak gives my thirsty coils exactly the moisture they need. Time to re-up!

At the end of the consultation, each participant will walk away with a recipe card with a description of their look, as well as product samples to test, and to help recreate the look at home. Call 305-531-0404 to make an appointment.

Next up Books & Books (265 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables), where the environment is typically staid and erudite. But tomorrow, Miami’s premiere indie bookstore will transform into a frilly, fun, feminine arena for a very special event. Brides at Books & Books will be hosted by celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss, author of The Wedding Book: The Big Book for Your Big Day. In her latest book, Weiss shares the tips that she used to make memorable occasions for the likes of include Eva Longoria, Adam Sandler, Shaquille O'Neal, and Gwen Stefani. And to celebrate, Books & Books and Jennifer J Events will transform their Gables store into a bridal fantasy, complete with samples and displays by Hitched Event Rentals, National Flowers, Partybooths, B&B Cappuccino, Cake Designs by Edda, Bellisima Bridal, Paper Emporium, David Turner Music and Simply Captivating photography. Besides all of that, this dream of a day will include a spectacular bridal lunch and champagne menu from The Café at Books & Books.

If you’ve got a special day on your horizon, call 305-442-4408 for info, and e mail [email protected] to RSVP.
