Miami-Dade Police Officers reportedly fatally shot a man after he allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend and a male friend with a machete in Northwest Miami-Dade. The Police Department has yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but several startling details have emerged.

NBCMiami reports that neighbors say the couple had a history of domestic dispute in the past, and that the female victim had went to a police station earlier in the morning to lodge a formal complaint against her boyfriend.

The incensed man apparently showed up to her house, in the area of 181st Street and 54th Avenue, with a machete and started attacking her as well as a male friend who was also in the house.

The man may have attempted to flee the house after the scene, but ended up being shot by a police officer.

Both victims apparently sustained severe injuries, and at least one was airlifted to a hospital.

The Miami Herald adds that someone's hand may have been severed in the attack.
