Miami has been so hot lately that the AC wall unit in my Edgewater studio is fighting a losing battle. I'm actually hoping we get some rain soon because I'm not sure how much longer I can stand the heat. So while I sit directly in front of the vents, here is what you missed over the weekend:

Maxwell at American Airlines Arena

Maxwell stopped by the American Airlines Arena Friday night to swoon the ladies. The R&B singer topped the Billboard charts last month with his latest release, BLACKsummers'night. Click here to view the full slide show.

Red Bull Manny Mania at Ice Palace Studios

Local amateur skateboarders came out for the Red Bull Manny Mania at Ice Palace Studios Saturday. In order to make things more challenging, skaters had to do all of their tricks while riding only on two wheels. Click here to view the full slide show.

Black Moth Super Rainbow at White Room

Mixing psychedelia and electronic sounds, Black Moth Super Rainbow performed at White Room Saturday. The night also marked Poplife's final run at the edge-of-Overtown venue. Click here to read the review, and click here to view the full slide show.

Keep Miami New Times Free... Since we started Miami New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Miami, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Miami with no paywalls.
