The 4th of July weekend was a wet one, with sporadic downpours popping up at inconvenient times. Going to the beach was a gamble, as no one knew whether to bring sunblock or an umbrella. But it was the sudden storm right after sundown on the 4th that probably caused the biggest headache, seeing how fireworks and rain don’t exactly mix. Eventually, the skies cleared up, long enough for it to sound like an air raid was happening outside my apartment.

Indie/hip-hop party Money Shot celebrated one year of existence with a live performance by 2 Live Crew, who gave everyone’s ass a work out that night. Also if you got there early enough, you got the chance to receive (while supplies lasted) a free limited edition Money Shot T-shirt by Freegums.

Local musician Jose El Rey celebrated the release of his new album A Little Strong with a live performance Friday night at The Vagabond. Pastelitos were given out as Jose gave the crowd a dose of his Cuban sinverguenzeria mixed with electro beats.
