A New York-to-Miami flight was diverted to Virginia after a 73-year-old Miami man died aboard the American Airlines plane last night. The man had complained of feeling ill and died while in the air.

The flight, which took off at JFK in New York and was headed for Miami International Airport, had to make an emergency landing at Norfolk International Airport in Virginia after the man lost consciousness and the crew was unable to revive him.

The man was a 73-year-old Miami resident, but no other information, including his name and exact cause of death, has been released.

He began complaining of feeling ill 20 minutes after the flight took out before dying.
