Miami Is the Tenth-Best Large College Town

The American Institute for Economic Research found -- through a complicated set of statistics involving academic environment, quality of life, and professional opportunities -- that South Florida is the tenth-best large metro area in which to attend college. Of course, only 21 metro areas in America qualify as large, by having more than 2.5 million residents.

In the division, Miami academia scored low in "research capacity," percentage of locals with college degrees, transportation, and cost of living. However, the Magic City scored well in cultural opportunities and entrepreneurial spirit.

New York City took the top spot.
