Chop Robinson’s "Wood Chop" Is the NFL's Coolest Sack Dance

Every sack by "Demeioun" Chop Robinson brings a celebratory simulated wood chop.

The Miami Dolphins' 2024 season may be on life support, but the late-season surge from the team's first-round pick, Demeioun "Chop" Robinson, seems to have all but confirmed the talented linebacker will be a vital piece of the 2025 version of the squad.

And the excitement about the former Penn State star's on-field play isn't hurt by the fact that his celebratory "Chop" move has quickly become the NFL's hardest celebration — as borne out most recently in the waning moments of the Dolphins' season-saving 29-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers. A win that prolonged the Dolphins' prayer of making the postseason one more week as the team heads to Cleveland to take on the Browns next Sunday.

With less than a minute in the fourth quarter and the Dolphins up by 12, Robinson put an end to the drama by sacking San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy — who wears No. 13 because he grew up a Dolphins and Dan Marino fan — to deliver the coup de grâce.

And with every Chop Robinson sack come the accessories that are a team-mandated simulated wood chop — in this instance, administered with assistance from a group of teammates (some in uniform, some in sweats) on the Dolphins sideline.
Cold. Certified frigid. If Chop Robinson celebrations go this tough when the games are thisclosetomeaningless, we can't wait to experience them in big playoff games, assuming the Dolphins ever play in one of those again.

As you may have expected, the celebration was quickly downloaded and chopped into a GIF that will live for eternity on the platform formerly known as Twitter, waiting for the next time Chop Robinson claims his next victim.
After Sunday's performance, Robinson has six sacks in his last seven games. The late-season surge has Dolphins fans dreaming of a 2025 defensive trio of Jaelen Phillips, Bradley Chubb, and Robinson chasing down quarterbacks while defensive lineman Zach Siler piledrives up the middle.

If the thought of having all the Dolphins' best players on the field, rather than on the trainer's table, puts a smile on your face, join the club. Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver looked like a kid on Christmas Day talking about the possibility before this week's game.
In summary, regardless of what becomes of Miami's still-slim shot at the postseason, there's always next year. Just keep chopping wood, Dolphins fans. Chop Robinson certainly shows no signs of stopping.
