Florida Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson will not run for Governor. Not that any one is that surprised, since the state party and major fundraisers were already congealing around Attorney General Bill McCollum.
Bronson had earlier claimed that since his name was displayed on every gas pump in the state it would help with his name recognition. So sad we will never get to use the nick name "Governor Gas Pumps."
Bronson will instead serve out the remainder of his term as Agriculture chief. He didn't rule out a possible run for Gov in the future, but if Republicans need a candidate in 2014 or 2018 he may have to face off against Adam Putnam.
Putnam, who formerly held high ranking leadership positions in the US House, has announced he'll seek the Agriculture job in 2010. Many think he has his eyes on eventual Governor's bid as well.
Though, looking at only 2010 it seems that both parties will not have much of a primary. McCollum is the lone prospect for the GOP, while CFO Alex Sink is the standard bearer for the Dems.
