Sure, the Miami Hurricanes football team is stuck in a slump of mediocrity, but the rest of the athletics department has been having an amazing year. The men's and women's basketball teams both ended their seasons as ranked teams, and now the baseball team has snatched the number one ranking in the Baseball America poll.
To make the accomplishment even sweeter, the Canes dethroned the Florida Gators.
The Canes have racked up a 25-4 record and are on a nine-game winning streak. They started the season ranked sixth and have been slowly moving up in the top ten. Though, two of those losses were at the hands of the Gators.
It's the first time the Hurricanes have been ranked number one since 2008.

The Canes are led by star slugger Zack Collins, who's hitting an astounding .424.
While Mark Richt will be charged with turning around the floundering football team, and the basketball team has had its moments over the past decade, the school's baseball team remains one of the most consistent in all of college athletics.
The team has advanced to the postseason a record 43 years in a row. To put that into perspective: The last time the team sat out the NCAA tourney was 1972.
Though the Canes appeared in the College World Series last season, it was the first time since 2008. If they continue playing like this, they'll almost certainly make a repeat trip this year.
