Independent Journalism in Miami Needs You
We need to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Jean Price was so insistent that a television reporter leave her alone that she jumped in his car and took off, all while the reporter’s camera was rolling.
Josh Taylor, a reporter with Sarasota’s ABC affiliate, was working a pretty standard consumer rip-off story. An older woman had agreed to rent out what she thought was an 11-bedroom home on Siesta Key, but when she showed up the home only had five bedrooms and several code violations. Owner Dr. Craig Siegal, a chiropractor, refused to refund the money.
So Taylor set off to get a comment when he came across Jean Price, who reportedly works for the doctor.
Price repeatedly asked Taylor to leave but Taylor wouldn’t. So she grabbed his camera tripod and started putting it in his station-issued vehicle when all the sudden she got the bright idea to just jump in the car and drive off.
Price walked back a few minutes later and told Taylor to go retrieve his car. He found it parked a few blocks away. Price will be charged with grand theft auto.
