Reader support matters more than ever
We're in the final stretch of our summer campaign. Our goal is to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the journalism our community relies on. Reader support is helping shape the future of local news.
Every thing seems to be going Dwyane Wade’s way in court (judicial, not basketball) lately. First he settled a series of lawsuits with a former business partner, and now he has been awarded temporary sole custody of his two sons in his increasingly ugly divorce with wife Siohvaughn Wade.
The ruling was handed down in a Chicago court this morning.
Siohvaughn had previously filed a lawsuit against Wade’s current girlfriend, actress Gabrielle Union, that attacked his parenting skills. The suit stated that one son had to undergo consoling because of Union’s presence and both barely knew their father. Though Siohvaughn has had troubles in court recently. She was arrested after not showing up for a hearing, and recently parted ways with yet another lawyer.
Wade’s legal team has cast doubt on Siohvaughn’s own parenting skills, saying she is erratic, doesn’t allow Wade to see his sons, and has weird religious beliefs.
