Time to dig out your Uggs and puffy coat — sweater weather has officially touched down in the Magic City. Temperatures last night dipped into the 50s and National Weather Service is predicting the coldest temperatures in South Florida since February.

While this weekend's lows might not scream "blizzard," they're definitely a wake-up call for a city that thinks anything below 70 degrees qualifies as freezing.
New Times' go-to meteorologist Brian McNoldy says our highs and lows will be about ten degrees below average for late November, with nighttime temps dipping into the 50s across South Florida.

For context, the last time Miamians shivered this much was February 25-26, and honestly, we've been overdue for a bit of cooldown.

"It's nothing too strange for late November, really," McNoldy says. "Over the past five decades, the average date of the first 55-degree temperature is November 30, so this isn't too far off that mark."

Translation: This isn't an Arctic blast or some freak weather event. It's just that time of year when Miami gets a brief taste of what the rest of the nation calls "fall." It's unlikely we'll see any iguanas falling from trees this weekend.

But let's be real:
We're still going to act like it's a major meteorological event. Starbucks lines for pumpkin spice lattes? They might already be ridiculous. Local influencers dusting off their winter duds for selfies at Wynwood Walls? Count on it.

Friday and Saturday will bring sunny skies, with highs in the low 70s and brisk northwest winds, making it feel even cooler. By Sunday, temperatures will start to creep back up, with highs in the upper 70s and lows in the mid-60s.

Already missing the muggy Miami air? Too bad!

For the rest of us, McNoldy has some good news: "We're definitely in the zone now for keeping tropical dew points out for a few months — FINALLY."

Say it louder for the people in the back!

That means goodbye to sweaty afternoons and sticky nights — for now, anyway. So, while this isn't exactly ski weather, it's a moment for Miamians to revel in the rare occasion of waking up to a chill in the air.

Pro tip: Take this opportunity to enjoy the cooler temps outdoors, whether it's strolling through the Design District or finally going on that "fall hike" in the Everglades. Just don't overdo it with the winter coats. The weather gods have blessed us with this gift. Let's act like we know how to handle it.
