Hialeah Police made a ghastly discovery early this morning: a burned-out car in an industrial area parking lot with human remains inside. Even more disturbing: The fire caused such extensive damage that police couldn't immediately tell how many bodies were inside the car.

The burning car was discovered at 3 a.m. today in a parking lot at 8091 W. 21st Lane. The area is mostly filled with warehouses and workshops. Firefighters were called to put out the remaining flames.

The car was burnt to almost nothing.

"The fact the vehicle was set on fire makes everything a little more difficult, so now we need the help of the forensics office to go ahead and go in there and do what they do best and determine how many people or what in that vehicle was set on fire," Hialeah Police spokesman Eddie Rodriguez told NBC Miami.

For that reason, the victim or victims have not yet been identified.

"This is what we live in; it's the world we live in today," a man who works nearby said. "Things like that are expected."

Police hope surveillance cameras might have caught what caused the fire.
