The baby gorilla born last Sunday at Zoo Miami has died. The gorilla, which was featured on Wednesday as our 305 Photo of the Day, died some time last night, the Miami Herald reports. What a way to start the weekend. An unconditional bummer.
The mother “seemed to be taking good care of the kid,” said Zoo Miami General Curator Steve Connors. “We were feeling pretty positive.”
The staff is working toward determining the cause of death.
