Independent Journalism in Miami Needs You
We need to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Zac Brown is a younger Jimmy Buffett, assuming Buffett traded his margarita for a beer and hung out with bikers. The lead singer and guitarist of the Zac Brown Band, Brown belts out sentimental lyrics with a hint of a Southern drawl over catchy, acoustic guitar notes and the backing of his bandmates. One of twelve children, Brown was born to an incredibly large family in Cumming, Georgia, where he grew up performing in his school’s chorus ensemble. Eventually he partnered with a high school friend and began writing original songs, landing him opening spots for performers like Shawn Mullins and Angie Aparo. He sold 5000 copies of his self-released debut album, Far from Einstyne, and 6000 copies of his second, Home Grown. Though Brown sounds like a country singer, his music has transcended country audiences, appealing to college crowds and biker gangs.
