I tried to think of snarky lyrical references with which to pepper this blog. After all, irony and perversion (blowjobs in theaters, hands in pockets) could all work their way into a blog about ’90s alternative-rock chanteuse Alanis Morissette carrying a bun in the oven, according to Perez Hilton.
But quirky headlines aside, there’s really nothing ironic about Morissette and Boca rapper Souleye (Mario Treadway) getting together. In fact, it seems perfect. The socially conscious Morissette has been dating Treadway, a rapper with a spiritual bent (he’s even a former Whole Foods employee) since October 2009 — see lyrics for proof of granola genetics: “Hey yo, the Spirit guides me, gives me a burst of energy/Patience is the key, relax and breathe, we’ve got a long way to walk to self-mastery.” To learn more about the boho rapper, see this story New Times published in 2005.
