Every year, without exception, WMC showcases the biggest commercial

names in electronic dance music at Miami's myriad world-class

nightclubs and posh beachside hotels. With all the hype going to the

top dogs, it's easy to overlook some of the smaller gems on the

Conference's highly-anticipated itinerary. A shame, considering the

underrated quality of intimacy some of these more modest gatherings can

provide, and the light shed on both underground and local talent. Also,

with so many of the half-hearted attempts at providing

recession-friendly admission prices on the official list, these smaller

gigs often prove to deliver genuine bargains. Here's the scoop on a

handful of the choicest underground parties happening around town next

week.

To Be Continued...

PL0T's Conference

warm-up, featuring a handful of our local minimal-wielding favorites,

including Mansur, Sab, and Basti, plus a special live performance by

the mind-blowing Colombian electronica duo Liluca. Cheap drinks and no

cover all night long!

Tuesday, March 22 at 10 p.m.-5 a.m. Buck 15, 707 Lincoln Lane, Miami Beach.

A View With a Sound

Musical

Missionary and PL0T take over a 41st floor high-rise space overlooking

Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic. The sensational international techno

lineup features Lee Jones & Nick Höppner a.k.a My My, Catz n Dogz,

Chris Fortier, and Bill Patrick. $15 cover: to get tickets click here.

Thursday, March 26, 2009, 2 p.m.-2 a.m. 500 Brickell Ave. 41st floor rooftop, Miami.

Compost Black vs. Boogie Allstars

I

can't possibly sing enough praise for this spectacular and totally

unprecedented lineup! In addition to local favorites Strickly B and

Will Renuart of Boogie, they have Schmoov! (a very rare treat from the

UK), Lovebirds, Vincenzo, Shahrokh, and a few more of the sickest names

in global deep house. True house music aficionados will make this party

a top priority! $15 cover: to get tickets click here.

Friday, March 27, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Electric Pickle, 2826 N. Miami Ave., Miami.

Decked Out

Airdrop

and Musical Missionary host the exclusive WMC showcase event for Berlin

labels Hello?Repeat and Magnet Musik, and the Buenos Aires/NYC-based

Airdrop

Records. Two separate outdoor areas overlooking Biscayne Bay and a

stellar techno/house lineup featuring, among others, Jan Krueger,

Tanner Ross, Soul Clap, and Punisher vs. Connie (the latter should be

interesting, two of the hottest females in techno in one double shot!) $15 cover: to get your tickets click here.

Saturday, March 28, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. The Double Grand Waterclub,

1717 N. Bayshore Dr. Miami.

WMC Mobilee Showcase

A

kamikaze-style Berlin techno afterhours to close off Conference week

with a bang. If you make it out of Sunday School for Degenerates alive and still bearing a death-wish to keep on partying, this is your gig. Featuring Mobilee Records' Anja Schneider, Miss Jools,

Gummihz, Dan Curtin, and Ralf Kollman, along with locals Dsan Powell

and Simon Wish on decks. $15 cover: to get tickets click here.

Sunday, March 29, 11 p.m.-11 a.m. Studio K, 60 NE 11th St. Miami.
