Color us shocked. We honestly expected for more hipster-oriented events booked during the week of Winter Music Conference at the Vagabond (34 NE 14th Street, Miami). But New York house-haven Cielo taking over the downtown club Wednesday, March 24, shouldn’t really come as a surprise. Owner Carmel Ophir has been bring househeads together every Saturday with Back Door Bamby.
Funny thing is Cielo’s website says “it’s coming to South Beach.” Er, not exactly kids. We guess if you replace girls in bikinis with homeless men and art deco buildings with boarded-up warehouse it could come close, but downtown is definitely NOT South Beach.
Anywho, the lineup is a who’s who of Cielo regulars including Alex From Tokyo, Behrouz, Dennis Kane, Darshan Jesrani, DJ Pippi, Jojoflores, Michel Cleis, Nicolas Matar, Nickodemus, Willie Graff, Tania Vulcano, Tedd Patterson, and Wagon Cookin.
All this non-South Beach fun comes at a price of $20 via wantickets.com. But we are going to wait and see if New York’s Fixed party is coming down and taking over Friday night like it did last year.
