UPDATE Ultra Music Festival has finally announced its Phase 1 lineup. Check out Ultra 2012's 92-act roster, headlined by Avicii, Tiësto, and David Guetta.
We've been snooping around the last few weeks, hoping someone would slip up and announce they are scheduled to perform at Ultra Music Festival 2012, scheduled to take place at Bayfront Park. Of course, there are already some who have strongly hinted that they will be making an appearance.
On his own site, Armin Van Buuren announced A State of Trance 550 tour, which will make a March 25 stop in Miami. That's the Sunday of Ultra week. And while it doesn't specifically mention the fest by name, we're counting the Dutch DJ as confirmed. Especially since Ultra's Facebook page also gives a wink and nudge that Van Buuren's appearance is certain.
Then there is Austin, Texas electronic duo BK & Mr. E, who flat out confirm on their website that they'll be performing at the festival March 24. Our sources at the festival say BK & Mr. E will not be on the final lineup.
And finally, Consequence of Sound says French prog-rockers Justice (after Audio, Visual, Disco that's what they are, and I'm sticking to it) are also scheduled to make an appearance. But we're hesitant to say this is confirmed.
When Justice announced their U.S. tour a few weeks ago, there was a noticeable Ultra-size gap between an Atlanta date on March 22 and a stop in Oakland, California, on April 17. So are they coming to Miami during Winter Music Conference/Miami Music Week? Definitely. Will it be at Ultra Music Festival? Yeah, probably, but it could very be somewhere else as well, so we'll qualify this as a rumor for now.
If the anticipation of who is scheduled to perform is killing you, according to Ultra's Facebook page, a Phase One announcement will be made next week. Don't expect an anemic announcement either. Ultra says since tickets for the 2012 festival are selling out quickly, the majority of acts will be announced in the first phase.
Ultra Music Festival 2012. Friday, March 23, to Sunday, March 25, 2012. Bayfront Park, 301 Biscayne Blvd., Miami. General admission tickets cost $299.95 plus fees or $599.95 plus fees for VIP. Visit ultramusicfestival.com.
