This weekend, a robbery inside the Supreme store in the Design District left a man hospitalized following an apparent dispute that traced back to Atlanta.

According to Miami police, the incident unfolded around 4:20 p.m. Saturday inside the Supreme streetwear store at 45 NE 41st St. Dozens of social media accounts identified the victim as Atlanta-based rapper Lil Deko, though Miami police have not officially confirmed his identity. A department spokesperson said the victim is expected to make a full recovery.

Investigators say the victim was shopping inside the store when he was approached by three men he knew from Atlanta. An argument reportedly broke out before one suspect walked up behind him and ripped a gold chain valued at approximately $22,000 from his neck. Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Jamar McKay.

Authorities said the victim chased McKay out of the store, where another unidentified suspect ran up and shot him once in the stomach. A witness captured cellphone video showing paramedics loading the injured man into an ambulance. He was transported to a local hospital, where he remains hospitalized but is expected to recover.

Police have said at least one of the men involved had prior issues with the victim stemming from Atlanta, and court records note a documented history of conflicts between those involved. Investigators are still working to determine whether an ongoing dispute contributed to the shooting.

Later that night, Miami police and the city’s SWAT team located multiple suspects hiding inside a home in the 800 block of Northeast 90th Street in Miami Shores. McKay was arrested along with Omarion Phillips, 20, of Atlanta, who police say was also inside the store, and Kevieon Smith, 21, of Riviera Beach, who is believed to have been the getaway driver.

Jail records also show Smith was being held on a warrant from another agency for resisting arrest. During the search, investigators recovered the stolen gold chain.

As of Tuesday, police have not identified or arrested the suspected shooter, who remains at large. As of the time of publishing this story, Miami police have not provided New Times with additional details regarding the shooter or officially confirmed the victim’s identity.

Channel 2 News reported that they were able to connect with Lil Deko via social media, where he confirmed he is recovering from the incident but declined to comment further or speak with additional news outlets.
