It's been years since the last edition of this Urban Latin Music Festival. But finally, the 305 is getting another shot of the fest's Spanglish street party vibe.
"We're pleased to announce," the Soulfrito folks proclaimed today via Facebook, "Nas and Don Omar as our first two headliners for Soulfrito The Urban Latin Music Festival" in February 2014.
Originally launched a decade ago, Soulfrito big-upped future rap, reggaeton, and pop stars like Pitbull, Wisin y Yandel, Aventura, and Kat Deluna.
"In ten to 15 years," festival founder Melissa Giles told the Miami Herald in 2003, "[urban Latino music] is going to be as big as mainstream hip-hop."
And now, on cue, Soulfrito is relaunching with Nas, Don Omar, its 2014 fest, and a five-year partnership with Sun Life Stadium.
"Our partnership with the festival," explains the stadium's senior vice president Todd Boyan, in his press release, "is based upon the unique nature and multi-cultural audiences the event will draw from.

"This is different than other Hispanic music events that often target a single nationality," Boyan adds, "Soulfrito has a crossover appeal to multiple genres, cultures and ethnicities, including the mainstream urban music enthusiast."
Or as Nas, Don Omar, and we here at Crossfade might say: This one's for all y'all, todos nos locos. The ballers, the Belly Danzas, even the Black Republicans.
