Independent Journalism in Miami Needs You
We need to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
The IWAN concept facility The Bubble in downtown Fort Lauderdale will be hosting another event Saturday starting at 7 p.m. Except this show will break somewhat from the indie rock/punk that usually fills the space and show some love for the metal heads of South Florida. Opener Lazer Beast describes its music as “two burnouts and a tweaker” on its MySpace page. They’ve only posted one song but it clocks in with 5 minutes of slow, dark metal fitting for a descent into a clammy dungeon — if one felt inclined to have a theme song at such a moment. The night continues with Murderous Rampage, the hilarious but no less brutal metal group with songs like “Zombie Holocaust” and “Eating Drinking Shitting.” Indie-rock group Fantastic Amazing, whose sound traverses experimental rock to raw gritty rock to jazzy moments to metal-tinged riffs will close the night.
