Matt Pond PA

Philadelphia musician Matt Pond sings about the topics sensitive souls usually write about in their poetry chapbooks: walking through forests and river streams, suffering through emotional talks, and straining for physical contact. This is a good thing, though, as he and his band, as evinced on the recently released Emblems, play jangly rock that lends heft to Pond's literary musings. Still, Matt Pond PA seems uncharacteristically indie rock for Revolver, where they will be playing on Friday night. The venerable weekly party is usually known for its sexed-up dance-rock-disco steez; maybe the group has a drum machine in its arsenal.
